Most online carts are abandoned before checkout, often because of a question about shipping, returns or fit. Describe your store and get a three-email abandoned cart sequence with timing, subject lines and copy that answers those questions first.
The three-email structure
Email one is a simple reminder about an hour later. Email two, a day later, answers common hesitations such as shipping cost, returns and sizing. Email three is the last reminder, with an incentive only if you choose one.
Don't lead with a discount
Offering money off in the first email teaches regular shoppers to abandon carts on purpose. The sequence saves any incentive for the last email, and free shipping often works as well as a percentage.
Show the cart
Recovery emails that show the product image, name and price do better than text-only reminders. Each email includes a [Cart items] block where your platform inserts the products.
Improve the product page too
If shoppers keep asking the same questions, answer them on the page. The Product Description Generator writes descriptions that cover materials, sizing and care.
Questions
When should I send an abandoned cart email?
The first one about an hour after the cart is left, the second around 24 hours, and the last between 48 and 72 hours.
Should abandoned cart emails include a discount?
Not in the first email. Try a reminder and a helpful follow-up first, and test a small incentive in the last email.
Do I need permission to send cart emails?
Rules depend on where your customers live. In the US, follow CAN-SPAM and your platform's consent settings; UK and EU shoppers generally need prior consent.
