Stuck halfway through a line? Type the opening words, choose a tone, and this sentence finisher returns a list of complete sentences, each taking your start in a different direction.
What a sentence completer is good for
Most people know how they want a sentence to start and lose the thread in the middle. Seeing several possible endings side by side makes it easier to recognize the one you meant, or to notice a better idea. Writers use a sentence completer to get past a blank page, to find a stronger last line for a paragraph, to draft captions and openers, and to produce story starters. Teachers and language learners use sentence completion as a classroom exercise, where the same opening is finished in many ways.
How to use 'finish my sentence'
Enter the beginning of the sentence exactly as you want it to appear. Your words are kept as written and the ending is added after your last word. Choose a tone, or leave it on the mix setting to see serious, funny, poetic and practical endings together. Pick 5, 8 or 10 endings. Copy the one you like, or combine parts of two.
Where you stop changes what you get
The last word of your opening steers the result. Ending on 'because' asks for a reason. Ending on 'but' or 'until' asks for a turn. Ending on 'when' asks for a moment in time, and ending on a verb such as 'was' asks for a description. If the endings feel flat, move the stopping point by a word or two and run it again. A specific opening ('The first thing I noticed about the kitchen was') gives richer endings than a general one ('The thing was').
Make the sentence yours
Treat the list as a set of ideas. An ending that sounds right may say something that is not true for you, so change the details to match your own experience, and do not present a made-up claim as fact in an essay or at work. When you have a sentence you like and want to build on it, the Sentence and Paragraph Expander turns it into a paragraph. For longer fiction, the Storytelling Bot assistant can carry the scene forward with you, and the English Tutor assistant can explain why one ending is grammatical and another is not.
Questions
Will it change the words I typed?
No. Each result repeats your opening as written and continues from there. If you spot a typo in your opening, fix it in the box and run it again.
Can it finish a sentence in a specific style?
Yes. Choose serious, funny, poetic, professional or suspenseful, or leave it on the mix setting for a spread.
What if I enter a whole sentence?
The tool then suggests what could come next as a following sentence, so you can also use it to continue a paragraph.
Can I use the sentences in my own writing?
Yes. Edit them to fit your voice and your facts. For schoolwork, follow your teacher's rules on AI help.
Is the sentence finisher free?
Yes, it is free to use, and you can run the same opening again for a new set of endings.
