New plant in the house and a curious cat, puppy or toddler? Upload a photo and get the plant's name, whether it is commonly listed as toxic for the ones you care about, which parts cause trouble, the usual symptoms, what to do if some was eaten and safer plants with a similar look.
Plants that are toxic to cats
Lilies are the most dangerous: every part, even pollen, can cause kidney failure in cats. Other common indoor plants listed as toxic to cats include pothos, philodendron, dieffenbachia, peace lily, aloe, jade plant and sago palm. If your cat chewed any of these, call a vet.
How the checker answers
It first identifies the plant and says how sure it is, because the toxicity answer is only as good as the identification. Then it gives a clear verdict based on well-known lists such as the ASPCA's, names the parts and symptoms, and suggests look-alike plants that are not commonly listed as toxic.
This is not medical advice
The checker helps you know what you have. If a pet or child has eaten a plant, contact a vet, poison control centre or doctor straight away rather than waiting for symptoms.
Questions
Is this a substitute for a vet or poison control?
No. In an emergency call your vet, an animal poison control line or your local poison control centre. Bring the plant or a photo.
Is it free to use?
Yes. Runs are paced rather than sold, so heavy use in a short window can mean a short wait before the next one.
Which plants are safe for cats?
Spider plant, Boston fern, calathea, parlor palm and African violet are commonly listed as non-toxic to cats. The checker suggests swaps that look like the plant you uploaded.
What photo works best?
A sharp, well-lit photo where the plant fills most of the frame. A close-up of one leaf or flower plus a second run on the whole plant gives the surest answer.
Do you keep my photo?
The photo is sent to the AI model to read it and is not shown to anyone else or added to a public gallery.
