Will a plant grow in that corner? Upload a photo of the spot, say which way the window faces, and get an estimate of the light level (bright direct, bright indirect, medium or low), the clues behind it, plants that will thrive there and plants to avoid.
Why light decides everything
Most indoor plants that struggle are in the wrong light. A fiddle leaf fig needs a bright spot near a window; a snake plant or ZZ plant copes with a dim corner. Matching plant to spot matters more than any fertiliser.
How the estimate works
The AI reads the clues in the photo: how far the window is, whether sun patches or sharp shadows show direct sun, curtains and anything blocking the view outside. It combines that with the window direction and hemisphere you choose. It is an estimate, not a light-meter reading, because phone cameras auto-adjust brightness.
Double-check for free
For an exact number, a free phone light-meter app gives a foot-candle reading. Use the plant list from this tool to pick what to grow once you know.
Questions
Is it free to use?
Yes. Runs are paced rather than sold, so heavy use in a short window can mean a short wait before the next one.
Is this as accurate as a light meter?
No. It is a quick estimate from a photo. A light meter or light-meter app gives the actual reading.
What does bright indirect light mean?
A bright spot that does not get the sun's rays directly on the leaves, such as a few feet back from a sunny window or beside an east-facing one.
Do you keep my photo?
The photo is sent to the AI model to read it and is not shown to anyone else or added to a public gallery.
