Snap a photo of a leaf, flower or the whole plant and get its common and scientific name, the clues that give it away, the look-alikes it gets confused with, and how to look after it. It works in the browser on any phone or computer, so there is no app to install.
How the plant identifier works
The AI looks at the shapes you can see: leaf outline and edges, how leaves are arranged on the stem, flower colour and structure, bark and growth habit. It names the most likely plant, says how sure it is, and points to the exact features in your photo that led there, so you can check the answer yourself.
Get a surer answer with a better photo
Fill the frame with the plant, shoot in daylight and keep it in focus. If the answer comes back Medium or Low, run it again on a close-up of a single leaf or flower. Flowers and fruit are the strongest clues; a lone leaf from a common shrub can match several plants.
More than a name
Each answer adds care basics (light, water, soil) and a toxicity line based on common listings such as the ASPCA list, which matters if you have cats, dogs or small children. For a problem plant, use the plant disease identifier instead.
Questions
Is it free to use?
Yes. Runs are paced rather than sold, so heavy use in a short window can mean a short wait before the next one.
What photo works best?
A sharp, well-lit photo where the plant fills most of the frame. A close-up of one leaf or flower plus a second run on the whole plant gives the surest answer.
Can it identify weeds, trees and flowers too?
Yes. It handles houseplants, garden flowers, trees, shrubs, succulents and common weeds. There are also dedicated pages for each with answers tuned to that kind of plant.
Can I use it to decide if a wild plant is safe to eat?
No. Never eat a wild plant based on an app or AI answer. Ask a local expert who can see the plant in person.
Do you keep my photo?
The photo is sent to the AI model to read it and is not shown to anyone else or added to a public gallery.
