What is that bug in the kitchen, on the plant or crawling up the wall? Upload a photo and this bug identifier tells you what it most likely is, which features gave it away, and which look-alikes to rule out. You also learn if it is a pest or harmless and what to do next, with clear safety notes for any bug that might bite or sting.
How the bug identifier works
The AI reads body shape, wings, antennae, legs, colour pattern and size cues in your photo. It names the most likely bug, says how sure it is and lists the clues behind the guess so you can check them against the real thing.
Get a photo it can use
Stay a safe distance and use your phone zoom. A top-down shot on a plain surface works best, with a coin or a ruler beside it for scale. A second photo of the underside or the wings can tell similar bugs apart.
Pest or harmless?
Each answer says what the bug usually eats or does, whether it is a pest in gardens or homes and whether it is known to bite or sting. Most bugs are harmless, but the tool never tells you any bug is safe to pick up.
When to take care
If you think it is a stinging insect, a biting spider or a tick, do not touch it with bare hands. Get medical care right away for a bite or sting that brings swelling, a spreading rash, fever or trouble breathing, and call a pest professional for an infestation.
Questions
Is the bug identifier free?
Yes, it is free to use. Runs are paced rather than sold, so heavy use in a short window can mean a short wait.
What photo works best?
A sharp top-down photo on a plain background with something for scale. Do not get closer than is safe.
Can it tell me if a bug is dangerous?
It gives general notes on biting and stinging, but it cannot make a safety decision. Keep your distance if unsure and seek medical care for any worrying reaction.
Does it identify bites?
No. This tool identifies the bug in the photo. For a skin mark, see a health professional.
Can it identify spiders, ants and beetles?
Yes, it covers common insects and other small creatures like spiders. Tell it where you found it in the notes.
How do I get rid of the bug?
The answer includes simple steps like sealing gaps and removing food. For a large problem, call a pest professional.
