Height Estimation from a Photo
Can AI estimate height from a photo? Learn how full-body proportion analysis works and when estimates are accurate.
How photo height estimation works
AI models use body proportions, limb ratios, and reference objects when available to estimate stature. Full-body photos work best; headshots cannot estimate height reliably.
Improve accuracy
Stand straight, camera at mid-torso height, include feet in frame, and place a known-size object (door frame, A4 paper) nearby if possible.
- Avoid wide-angle lens distortion
- Wear fitted clothing for clearer proportions
- Front or slight angle — not sitting
Use cases
Useful for online sizing (inseam estimates), fitness tracking baselines, and curiosity — not for medical or official identification.
