Incorrect quotes are short, fan-made jokes written as dialogue, where characters say things they never said in the original story. Enter your characters' names, choose how many appear in each scene and a humor style, and this incorrect quote generator writes five new exchanges in script format.
What are incorrect quotes?
An incorrect quote puts a funny, out-of-character line in the mouth of a familiar character. The format is a few lines of script: a name, a colon and what the character says. The joke comes from the gap between who the character is and what they are saying, or from how well a silly line suits them. Incorrect quotes became popular in fandom communities on Tumblr, where fans post them for favorite shows, books and games, for ships, and for their own original characters (OCs).
How to use the incorrect quote generator
Type one to six names separated by commas, such as 'Alex, Sam, Jordan'. Choose how many characters appear in each scene, or pick 'Mix it up' for variety. Select a humor style: chaotic, deadpan, wholesome, sarcastic or overdramatic. For funnier results, use the optional field to say who is who - 'Alex is the tired leader, Sam is reckless' - so the lines match each personality.
Funny character quotes for OCs, ships and story prompts
The generator works with any names. Writers use incorrect quotes to get to know their original characters, since deciding who would say a line is a quick test of personality. Fans use them for favorite pairings and found-family groups. They also work for a tabletop party or a group of friends, as long as everyone is in on the joke. An exchange can be the seed of something longer. Treat a result as one of your incorrect quotes prompts: ask what happened just before the conversation and what happens next, then write the scene. The Fanfiction Generator can turn an idea into a draft, and the Storytelling Bot can help you develop the characters further.
The quotes are fiction
Every exchange is made up by the tool. Nobody said these lines, and they should never be shared as real statements. The generator keeps the humor family-friendly and, if you enter the name of a real person, keeps the jokes gentle and clearly absurd. When you post a quote, label it as an incorrect quote so nobody mistakes it for a real one.
Questions
Is the incorrect quote generator free?
Yes. It is free to use, and each run writes five new exchanges.
How many characters can I enter?
Between one and six names. With one name you get solo lines or a chat with an unnamed friend; with more, the lines are shared out so every character appears.
Are the quotes taken from shows or other posts?
No. The tool is instructed to write new jokes and not to reuse lines from TV shows, films, songs or existing posts.
Can I use characters from my favorite show or game?
Yes. Enter their names and describe their personalities in the optional field. The result is fan-made humor, not dialogue from the original work.
Is the content safe for younger fans?
The generator is set to keep every exchange family-friendly, with no sexual content, slurs or hateful jokes.
